Inspirational community champions from Pinner have been celebrated at the annual Harrow’s Heroes awards night.
This year’s event took place on Wednesday, September 11, and celebrated a number of selfless local residents.
Cathy Kim won the Bringing People Together category for working tirelessly for the benefit of the Pinner community. She has organised numerous events and activities, including the Pinner Village Show and the annual wheelbarrow race, which both bring together thousands of local people.
Another Pinner resident, Chandni Palan, won the Contribution to the Community category. She received the award for her dedication in providing crucial support for the elderly. Through the Tech Surgery in Pinner, she helps residents stay up to date with the ever-changing world of technology. Her work has helped local people stay connected online and live more independently.
Sharon Pink was a finalist in the same category for her contribution to the community, including volunteering for Pinner’s Remembrance Sunday and the Summer Band Concerts.
Ian and Jackie Silverstone were also finalists in the Lifetime Achievement category, having run the 9th Pinner Cub Scout Group for more than 25 years.
Councillor Paul Osborn, Leader of Harrow Council, said: “I think this is an amazing event. The community spirit we have in Harrow is absolutely impressive, amazing and awesome.
“I want to thank all the finalists, nominees and judges. Personally, you would like to give the award to everyone. The amount of time, effort and difference you all make in this room is what makes Harrow the borough that I love and a better place to live.”
