A nursing student and mum-of-four from Amersham has been shortlisted for two prestigious nursing awards.

Amy Pile, who is a nursing student at Buckinghamshire New University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, has been shortlisted for two awards at the Student Nursing Times Awards: Outstanding Contribution to Student Affairs and Student Nurse of the Year: Adult.

Speaking to AmershamNews, Amy said she never thought she would get to go to university but has “loved every minute of it”.

She said: “Nursing is really hardcore but I can’t recommend it enough. It’s nice the awards boost nursing within the university. I think lately people may have changed their mind about going into nursing.

“I think it’s such a great career if you enjoy looking after people and want to advocate for them.”

Dr Paul Maloret, head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, said: “This news is worthy of celebration. It is no mean feat to be shortlisted for these prestigious awards.”

The awards ceremony will take place at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London on Friday, April 28.
