A young actress from Watford is rubbing shoulders with Hollywood actors as she stars in a production on one of London’s oldest West End stages.
Amelia Valentina Pankhania, who trains at The Dan Tien in Watford, is currently starring in Oedipus at The Old Vic theatre alongside Academy Award winner Rami Malek and Olivier Award winner Indira Varma.
Opening night took place on Tuesday, January 21, where Amelia performed to more than 1,000 eager audience members at the historic London theatre, which first opened in 1818.
This isn’t the first time the young star has showcased her talents, having starred in The Marlow Murder Club and September Says.
Speaking to WATFORDnews, executive director at The Dan Tien theatre Amy Lazzerini said: “Amelia is very quietly committed. She listens very carefully and takes notes on board, and because of that she makes good progress.
“When we found out, we were really excited! We knew she had a recall and that it was on the cards… We were delighted for her! This is the first time she has been on a stage this size.”
Oedipus is being shown at The Old Vic until Saturday, March 29.
