Fans of beloved TV comedy Allo Allo are in for a treat when the Hemel Hempstead Theatre Company brings the 1980s favourite to the stage next month.
From April 17 to 20, The Boxmoor Playhouse will be transformed into a small part of occupied France and the town of Nouvien. Here, the hapless Rene Artois runs his café with his wife Edith while fooling around with his waitresses, hiding a priceless painting, two British airmen and keeping the local German soldiers happy.
Based on the smash hit by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft which ran for nine seasons, director Iain Fowles is promising audiences a piece de resistance as old favourites including Rene’s tone-deaf wife Edith, Monsieur Leclerc and Lieutenant Gruber take to the stage.
Iain said: “Allo Allo means a great deal to a lot of people. It’s proving hilarious to rehearse. The props team are sourcing items including knockwurst sausages, French wines, cutlery, and crockery to furnish Café Rene, the sets are taking shape and the make-up and hair teams are also ready – we’re looking forward to welcoming you.”
Allo Allo is at The Boxmoor Playhouse from April 17 to April 20 at 7.45pm with an additional performance at 2.30pm on April 20. For more information and to book tickets, go to www.ticketsource.co.uk/hhtheatreco
