A Three Rivers-based charity is appealing for more volunteers from Chorleywood to give their time to a project which helps the elderly and vulnerable.
Watford & Three Rivers Trust (W3RT), which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in May, provides various services and activities for local residents.
One of their more recent initiatives is the new Community Cars scheme, in which volunteers use their own vehicles to help transport elderly and vulnerable residents to hospital, GP and other health appointments.
The initiative charges users 65p per mile, while drivers are paid 60p per mile for their time.
Amanda Williams, deputy CEO of W3RT, said: “We desperately need new volunteers to be community car drivers. It is very important now, given the difficulties with public transport to/from Chorleywood since the buses stopped.”
Drivers will need to have a valid licence and insurance, and be DBS checked.
If you would like more information or are interested in applying to become a volunteer, please email volunteering@w3rt.org or call 01923 216962.
