An employee at a plumbing and heating company has gone an extra six miles to help a local resident.
Winston Davis, owner of Avenue Heating, told RADLETTnews that his employee Callum Thompson was carrying out a routine boiler inspection for Radlett resident Jane on Monday, January 6.
When Jane suffered a fall due to the icy conditions, Callum called an ambulance.
It was around 7pm that evening when Callum received a call saying Jane needed someone to bring her home from the hospital. As he was still at her home completing works, he decided to travel the six miles to pick her up.
When asked why he went out of his way, Callum said: “It was the right thing to do.”
Winston told RADLETTnews: “It was beautiful; he even took her some flowers.
“He’s our youngest engineer, and he has four children at home too.”
Winston said the act of kindness came soon after his team had a meeting about trying to go above and beyond to help members of the community they served. Soon after the talk, Callum went and did exactly that.
Winston added: “One conversation we had was how do we separate ourselves from other companies and show that we really care?
“By being decent human beings, we provide a decent service that cares.”
Callum continued to work on the boiler across the week, and Jane has shared her gratitude.
She said: “He’s lovely, and he’s got a lucky wife!”
