Abbots Youth FC appoints new chairman

Published on: 6th August 2018   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Abbots Youth FC has announced the appointment of its new chairman Tim Denyer following the retirement of Tony Bullock last month.

Tim, who has lived in Abbots Langley for more than two decades, has been involved with Abbots Youth for 11 years and started by running the line and helping out on match days.

Tim has been participating on the Abbots Youth FC committee for the last 10 years and explains how he got involved.

He said: “I first gravitated to Abbots Youth when our boys started football. I have always been personally keen on the game too, playing for my school and local teams, so helping out at the club came naturally to me.

“The last five years I have been in the role of vice chairman so taking over from Tony was a natural progression and I am delighted to be given the opportunity to build on all the fantastic work he has done in taking the club forward.”

Commenting on the club’s contribution to the local community, Tim said: “Abbots Youth FC is part of the vast fabric of village life, bringing together over 200 children to play football in the heart of the village.

“We have a close and fruitful relationship with Abbots Langley Cricket Club and we hold and share functions with them which enables children and adults alike to develop, build relationships, team work and social interaction across all age groups.”

Abbots Youth FC is an inclusive, entirely voluntary club which aims to promote good football in a safe environment.

As well as being the new chairman of Abbots Youth, Tim is kept busy running a small family-based landscape gardening company, he is an avid Watford FC fan, he loves cycling, walking, kayaking, scuba diving, playing darts for Abbots Cricket Club as well as being a sports representative on the parish council’s leisure committee.
