A singer from Abbots Langley has gone viral on TikTok thanks to her incredible cover of Amazing Grace.
At the time of writing, Grace McGuigan’s video has been viewed more than 274,000 times. The sound of her singing has also been used around 100,000 times on the social media platform since it was posted on Tuesday, November 5.
Grace recorded the song as a tribute to her “number one fan”, her late nan. Grace used to sing the song while her nan played it on the ukelele.
Speaking to ABBOTSnews, Grace said: “I originally recorded the song to be played at my nan’s funeral two years ago.
“Two days after I posted it, it went viral, the same date as my nan’s death. For it to go viral on that day, she had to have something to do with it.”
The song has received an incredible response, with Love Island star Wes Nelson leading the praise.
Grace said: “It’s always been a dream to have that many people hear my voice. I can’t even comprehend it. It’s crazy and I’m so happy.”
Grace works for Headliner magazine as head of artist relations, but singing is her passion. She has previously performed at the Henderson Hub and has plans to release her own music in January, which she says will be “crunch time” as she eagerly anticipates the response to her songwriting.
