‘A TRIUMPH’: Radlett author seeks actors and musicians for upcoming film

Published on: 17th March 2026   |   By: Naomi Greenaway   |   Category: Featured

A Radlett author and producer has reached new heights with plans to turn one of his books, Euphoria – Pirates of the South, into a film.

Jason Cook released the novel in 2021 and is now ensuring the story stays in residents’ minds. The book follows 16-year-old Lana, a troubled young woman seeking to escape the street life of drugs and gangs by becoming one of London’s top DJs.

The upcoming film will be shot at Elstree Studios and is set for release in spring 2027.

Jason is inviting actors and musicians from Radlett and surrounding areas to get involved, keeping the production open to “locals who want to take part.”

Speaking to RADLETTnews, Jason said: “The story is a triumph, and it took over a year to put the idea of a film into the pipeline. I am excited that we are now making the book into a film. Our director Troy Stacey is from Hertfordshire too, so we are keeping this open to local talent.”

He added: “I am grateful that we are coming together in unity, the scene will be set back in the 90s, and fans will be in for a treat.”

“Residents who take part will be helping the independent filmmakers as well as opening opportunities for education and creating jobs in the media sector.”

The production aims to celebrate local talent and bring the community together.
