In July of 1955, two young boys from Northwood met Hollywood royalty when they were introduced to WWII movie icon Marlene Dietrich.
Young Christopher and Terence, here aged four, were identical twins who were blind, attending Northwood’s Sunshine House for Blind Babies, an institution that still exists today.
Miss Dietrich, known for her roles in such classics as Shanghai Express and her humanitarian efforts during the war, attended a special garden party where she met the two boys and thanked them for bringing her flowers.
Do you have any memories of famous faces in Northwood? Or any other pictures of the borough’s illustrious past? If so, send them to newsdesk@mynewsmag.co.uk, and they could appear as well.
