The bomb squad has been called out to a residential street in Watford.
Police were called to Charlock Way at 11.51am after reports a suspicious device had been found inside a car. Officers have closed the road and put a cordon in place as a specialist team investigate the find.
Herts police have confirmed that officers are still on the scene and that no controlled explosion has yet been carried out.
Door to door enquiries are being carried out and a cordon is still in place.
