The Friends of King George Recreation Ground are hosting a special event to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
VE Day, which takes place this year on Thursday, May 8, marks the end of the Second World War in Europe and the Pacific.
To help commemorate the occasion, residents can enjoy a free afternoon of music from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, May 4, including a performance from Helen the Vintage Singer.
A burger van will offer refreshments, and residents will be able to enjoy a bouncy castle and take part in children’s games and a tombola.
The café will be open for scones, cream and jam.
The perfect place for the event, the King George Recreation Ground has been at the heart of the community for more than 100 years.
Run by volunteers since 1998, the Friends of King George are committed to making the park “a welcoming and inclusive space”.

Well done Friends of King George Recreation Ground, we should recognise important dates such as this and more importantly remember the people that gave their lives to make our lives what it is today.
