A woman from Bovingdon has been presented with a plaque by the Chairman of the Parish Council, recognising her voluntary services for over 45 years.

Margaret Horwood set up the Bovingdon Yoga Group over 45 years ago and has donated all profits made from the group over the years to local charities including Bovingdon Day Care, Hemel Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, and the Hospice of St. Francis to name a few.

The plaque was presented at the Parish Council meeting on 6 January 2020, recognising Margaret for her work towards health and wellbeing of past and present Bovingdon Yoga Group members.

Margaret set up Bovingdon Yoga Group and began her voluntary teaching whilst owning and managing the former Horwoods village bakery and has lived in the village her whole life.

She was nominated for the token of recognition by Jane Taylor, a loyal member of the club for over 30 years.

The group was initially based in the Fire Station Social club and later moved to Bovingdon Memorial Hall where is has been based on Thursday evenings for the past 40 years.

Margaret’s plaque will be sited in a newly created garden, by the side of the Memorial Hall.
