Watford sign Cameroon international

Watford have announced the signing of Norwich City defender Sebastien Bassong on a three month loan deal.

The Cameroon international secured a temporary switch from their fellow Championship side last week and will strengthen Watford’s defensive options until early January. Bassong said: “I saw Watford are at the top of the table and that was a key factor. The club have ambitions and they want to do well this year, so I’m sure I will enjoy it here. “I had a good feeling about Watford when they came in for me, it didn’t take me long to make my choice. “I’m really happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started.” The ex-Spurs and Newcastle man says he is already familiar with the ‘Orns, and a number of their players, and has been impressed with the direction the club are taking both on and off-the-pitch. “I know a couple of the players already, and I know Heurelho Gomes from Spurs, we played together,” said Bassong, who will wear squad number 39. “I know a bit about Watford because I used to live not far from here when I played for Spurs. “Watford are a good team for me, with ambition and plans for the future which are really good – they’re building a new stand at the stadium – and that’s what I like, that’s what I’m here for.”
