Wealdstone narrowly beaten by Dulwich Hamlet

Published on: 6th August 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Wealdstone F.C

The Stones were narrowly beaten by South London side Dulwich Hamlet following a spectacular opening day of the season, where they beat Dartford 4-1.

The club’s first away fixture of the season saw Wealdstone largely dominate the opening 20 minutes. Shots from Ross Lafayette and Billy Clifford went on target but good saves from the Dulwich keeper kept the scoresheet level.

A 21st minute goal was enough to settle the match. Dulwich’s Richard Orlu converted from a dangerous corner whipped in by Monakana which made it past Stones goalkeeper Aston Oxborough.

In the second half at Champion Hill, The Stones made a double substitution taking off Dennon Lewis and Reece Beckles-Richards replacing them with Billy Clifford and Sanchez Watt respectively, but they still lacked the clinical finishing needed to level the scores.

Wealdstone dominated play but Dulwich Hamlet’s Monakana was causing too many problems for the players to control.

Wealdstone will be hoping to grab all three points this Saturday away to Braintree.
