Chalfont St Peter (CSP) and Chalfont St Giles’ (CSG) Royal British Legion (RBL) branch held two events to raise money for the Poppy Appeal charity and promote the branch’s centenary at the same time.
The RBL held a stall in the green in CSG on May 22 and followed up with a second event on August 7 at the CSP Co-op store, raising a total of £928,81 from both events.
Branch chairman, Trevor York, speaking to ChalfontsNews mentioned how thankful he is to the local people who donated and volunteers who helped out.
He said: “Thank you very much for your efforts and for supporting us, we got support also from the Air Cadets. They were very good, the event in Chalfont St Giles was the first event where they have been able to come out and help since COVID happened.
“What I want to say is a big big thank you to local people for their generosity. Because to be honest I didn’t expect to raise that much money.
“It goes to help soldiers; it’s more likely going to help soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq and we are trying to help people who suffered during their services.”
