A young author from Croxley Green published her first children’s book in September. Olivia’s Secret, written and illustrated by Olivia Wheatley, is the first in The World of Bramblewood Meadow series.
The early chapter book is aimed at children aged three and above. The book description says: “Olivia’s Secret beautifully illustrated story about friendship, new beginnings and discovering that the loveliest secrets are often hidden in the quietest places.”
Speaking to CroxleyNews, Olivia said: “I hope this book will inspire children to get outside more and explore nature but also to make new friends.”
Olivia was inspired by childhood favourites, including the Peter Rabbit series by Beatrix Potter. When brainstorming ideas, she drew from authors who both wrote and illustrated their work.
Despite finding self-publishing daunting, Olivia said it helped her as an author as she found independence.
Olivia’s Secret is available on Amazon, Olivia’s Book Nook on Facebook or @Bramblewood_meadow on Instagram. Each book purchased directly from Olivia comes with a free gift and note.
