The persistent flooding on Little Bushey Lane is finally being taken seriously, according to a councillor who’s long campaigned for action.
The road floods so heavily, in the section near Mendip Road, that water enters residents’ front gardens.
Bushey Park Lib Dem councillor Maxie Allen took up the case last year.
After months of “nagging”, the highways authority and Thames Water have now made investigations.
They found that a sewer has collapsed – and believe this is the primary cause of the flooding.
Minor faults with the drains were also identified.
Cllr Allen said: “I am now pressing both organisations to make the repairs as quickly as possible.
“We don’t yet have a date, which is frustrating.
“But we now know the likely causes of the flooding – and that’s a big step forward.
“This dreadful problem causes hazards for motorists and pedestrians, and is damaging people’s homes.
“It’s continued since 2017, but was ignored till recently.
“At last, the authorities are paying attention. But I won’t rest till we have a resolution”.
