Proving that age is just a number, an event held at the Meriden Community Centre in Garston last month aimed to encourage people to celebrate ageing.
Watford FC Community Sports & Education Trust teamed up with Age Without Limits for the event, which was held on Age Without Limits Day on Wednesday, June 11. It included activities such as carpet bowls and chair-based exercises, as well as offering a place to sit and chat with friends.
This follows Age Without Limits’ research project, which showed that more than half of the over 50s surveyed have faced the assumption that they can’t do something because of their age.
One of the attendees said: “I often find people speak to me differently now that I’ve gotten older, and I find it frustrating. Thank you for celebrating ageing. It was great to join in on the other activities today; it’s made me realise I can still get involved in new things.”
