An October storm in Croxley led to minor chaos in the village with flooding blocking off roads and some high winds having an effect as well- even blowing a marquee into a woman’s garden!
The absconded item was reported on the RCCG: Rickmansworth, Chorleywood, Croxley Green & Villages Community Facebook group in the afternoon on Sunday, October 23, by Jarmila Entezari, who posted a picture of the marquee stating: “Is there anyone from Mill End Baptist Church? The marquee is taking off.”
The church’s pastor, James Findlow, was soon contacted, and commented underneath, confirming the marquee did belong to them. Though he was away, he arranged for people to come and rescue the item from Jarmila’s back garden.
Elsewhere, Baldwins Lane was badly affected by the torrential rain, which saw giant puddles form on the road. The bottom of Links Way was also flooded, as shown by photos on social media. One resident stated they had never seen it get this bad in the 62 years she had been living there.
Despite the difficult downpour, the weather did clear up by the next day, even leading to a beautiful rainbow that could be seen over the village.
