Niamh Harding was walking along the Maylands Avenue with her partner and new-born son in the pouring rain, when a man in a Mercedes pulled up and offered an umbrella.
She wrote on Facebook: “It was pouring heavily and neither me or my partner had coats and we’d forgotten my sons rain-cover, so we were drenched and my sons blanket was getting wet, we were all getting very cold too and you made the rest of our journey much easier.
“We’d seen many people walking with raincoats and umbrellas, even seeing people who had the coats etc, get into cars and wished someone had helped us out as we looked to buy a brolly in multiple shops but couldn’t find one for the life of us.
“You made our day and things a lot easier. Hopefully by chance you’ll see this and know we are so very grateful.”
The post thanking the kind stranger has caused hundreds and hundreds of interactions with residents delighted with the simple and random act of kindness.
