A lifelong Watford FC fan who has been hospitalised with COVID-19 has received support from Joao Pedro, Troy Deeney and Luther Blissett.

Danny Clavin is currently recovering from the virus in hospital, after being admitted in January. Watford FC has shown their support and well wishes for the mega fan, who is now on the road to recovery and hopes to be back home soon.

Danny’s daughter, Danielle told MyWatfordNews: “I know my dad was beyond chuffed to receive the support from his beloved club. It made me emotional because the club is known as a family club and to know that they are behind my dad is honestly amazing. Having club legend Luther Blissett wishing my dad the best was so heartwarming. It pushes my dad even harder to fight the virus.”

Watford player João Pedro became familiar with Hornets fan Danny in December 2019, after he offered Pedro gloves to keep warm whilst sat in the corporate box at Vicarage Road.

Pedro tweeted to his 115,000 followers: “Danny, I remember the gloves and I remember your passion for @WatfordFC! Keep fighting my friend.”

Troy Deeney also sent over a signed shirt and Watford legend Luther Blissett sent a message of support to Watford resident Danny, who has previously been shortlisted for outstanding courage in the MyLocalHero awards.

Danny’s daughter Danielle added: “He’s not out of the woods just yet but he’s doing very well. He’s having better nights and days to when he started. He’s been in the hospital for over two weeks but hopefully he’s out very soon.”
