WELL DONE: Pinner supermarket worker praised for brightening residents days

Published on: 5th July 2021   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

A supermarket worker from Pinner has been praised by hundreds of members of the community for his helpful and cheerful attitude which brightens customers’ days.

Emmanuel Amankwa, who works at the Pinner Green Tesco store, has been inundated with messages of support and residents have now set up a fundraising page to thank Emmanuel for his services.

The recognition came after a resident posted on the Nextdoor app asking: “Does anybody know the name of the member of staff who works in Tesco Pinner? He is usually outside pushing around a stack of trolleys, helping the elderly with their shopping to the car or generally just being the most helpful member of staff I have ever come across.”

The post received over 219 likes and 200 comments, identifying Emmanuel and sharing positive experiences. Residents have since been in contact with Tesco head office and have nominated Emmanuel for a TSB Local Pride award.

Resident Matthew Rushton has set up a GoFundMe for the people of Pinner to provide a small, affordable donation to thank Emmanuel.

One resident, Patricia from Eastcote, said: “Despite weather conditions, he can be seen pushing trolleys back to the bays and helping customers off-load their groceries into their car. He is so helpful, very respectful, always with a smile, says “hello” to all, waves goodbye as they leave. He is a true asset to Tesco Pinner”

Another resident added: “A great tribute to frontline workers who often get overlooked.”

He was a top notch worker, always cheery, happy, helpful, I never knew his name until now, BUT to me he was Pinner Green Tesco’s. I think he went to Chorley Wood Tesco’s….I wish him well in his life and am sure he will continue to be an example to us all in his approach to his job, life & interaction with others….

Emannuel thanks for making me smile and laughing with me.
