Philippa Gold, a resident at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home, was left devastated when she was unable to travel to Spain for her granddaughter’s wedding.
So, the staff decided to bring the wedding to her.
In a room decorated with beautiful flowers, the guests came together to watch a live stream of the wedding on Tuesday, June 11. Other friends and family who also couldn’t make the wedding, including the groom’s mother and grandmother, were also invited to celebrate the occasion together.
Guests enjoyed afternoon tea, a wedding cake, and glasses of fizz to toast the happy couple.
A guest book also was shared around for people to write messages.
Philippa was moved to tears by the event and spoke to the bride and groom on FaceTime.
The care home’s activities co-ordinator Tina Stovey said: “Philippa is such a special lady and we all wanted to support her so she could see her granddaughter’s wedding. We are all so happy we were able to make Philippa’s dream come true.”
