A Northwood gym has apologised for its failings after a female gym goer felt her privacy was invaded in the changing rooms.
The gym member, who wishes to remain anonymous, left the David Lloyd Northwood branch on Saturday, January 31. She says her privacy was invaded by people taking photos and videos.
The gym goer had been a member for three years and claims that despite speaking to the head office and club managers about their concerns, “nothing had been done”.
Speaking to NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews, the member said: “They made no attempt to enforce the photography policy, and there was an increased number of members taking photos in the changing room. On multiple occasions, I asked people to stop while I was in there. I was verbally abused by two members for asking them to stop taking photos.”
Sharing their experience on TikTok the video went unexpectedly viral. The majority of comments understood, but some said they did not “see a problem if no one is in the photo”.
A spokesperson for David Lloyd responded: “At David Lloyd Clubs, we take member privacy extremely seriously and are concerned to learn of the female gym goer’s experience, and photography or filming is not permitted in our locker rooms.
“We apologise if the gym member felt their concerns were not handled with the seriousness they deserved. We will be contacting both our team and members to reinforce these rules. We have clear standards regarding member behaviour and will take appropriate action in response to any inappropriate conduct.”
