Watford Borough Council will be putting in a third submission for the Farm Terrace Allotments following October’s victory. A meeting was held on November 27, with three claimants, site supervisor, the President and area representative of the National Society of Allotments and representative for the Mayor of Watford to discuss the battle between allotment holders and the council. In October the allotments holders managed to block a second decision to build 750 homes, Watford Health Campus and commercial buildings by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles. The Chief Executive asked the allotment holders if the allotment holders if they had any compromises to offer. Sara Jane Trebar wrote a letter, which read: “[The] ball was firmly in their court but we were indeed definitely open to negotiations. We went to that meeting with every intention to seek a compromise.” Following the meeting, on December 5, the council announced that they will be resubmitting Sara’s letter also read: “There would indeed be NO compromise, NO negotiation, that Watford Borough Council will indeed be putting in a third submission for the use of the WHOLE allotments for housing, a car park. “POSSIBLE Hospital facilities and now a ‘POSSIBLE’ school! As if by putting the word ‘POSSIBLE’ they can pull the wool over people’s eyes about their true plans. “How far will they go to get rid of our allotments and how much more of our Tax Payers money will they spend?”
