Watford Borough Council is inviting pensioners from across the town to take part in the second in a series of engagement events that give older residents the opportunity to access useful advice and information and to have their say on a range of issues affecting them.

The second Pensioners’ Forum hosted by the council in partnership with the Watford & Three Rivers Trust takes place 2-4pm, Tuesday, July 9, in Committee Rooms 2 and 3 at the Town Hall in Watford.

Deputy Mayor Karen Collett will be chairing the event and a range of guest speakers will participate in the session including: Dr Marie Anne Essam who will talk about the health factors critical to being as well as possible, Jessica Lavender, a resilience officer from Herts County Council, John Dowdle and Freda Gray from the National Pensioners Convention and optician Hugo Potgieter.

The Pensioners’ Forum is free to attend and it is a great way for residents in Watford to meet new people and chat over tea and cake.

Deputy Mayor Karen Collett said: “I’m glad that so many of our residents came to the first forum earlier this year. I hope to see even more people In July and find out what really matters to you, as well as hear some useful information from our guest speakers.

“We are working hard to make Watford a town for everyone so I’m really pleased to offer our older residents this opportunity. Please do come along if you’d like to be involved and tell anyone who you think may be interested. We look forward to seeing you there.”
