Watford & Three Rivers Trust (W3RT) have launched their brand-new Neighbours Together scheme to help older people stay socially active.
The Neighbours Together event that took place on June 18 saw the 3WRT team launch their newest project as well as talks from two guest speakers.
3WRT want to reach out and speak to local residents to get involved in its innovative project, Neighbours Together, which aims to tackle loneliness in older people.
Funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, the idea behind Neighbours Together is to foster a spirit of neighbourliness that encourages and supports older people to socialise and stay active, helping them stay connected and well in later life.
In partnership with residents Neighbours Together will help identify and promote a range of social activities and events for our diverse ageing population.
Health and wellbeing manager, Vanessa Wright, said: “We are building on the strengths in our neighbourhoods, we have a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience in our local people and fantastic resources in our buildings, spaces and institutions.”
If you’re interested in volunteering for your community then give Neighbours Together a call to find out more and how you can get involved.
