A charity that provides boat trips along the Grand Union Canal is sailing into the new year thanks to a generous donation.
The volunteer lead charity, based in Hemel Hempstead, enable everyone, regardless of age, physical ability or social disadvantage to experience the fun and the beauty of waterways.
A generous donation from new homes builder Miller Homes Southern in December means that more residents will be able to enjoy the canal trips. Through a pledge to The Big Give Christmas Challenge, Miller Homes Southern was able to double its donation for a total fund pot of £600.
Waterways Experiences volunteer, Lynn Margetts, said: “We thank Miller Homes for their very kind donation. The funds will help us make much-needed improvements to our Wharf and facilitate our upcoming expansion plans which include extending the entrance to allow easy access to and from the boats and centre for those with additional needs.”
Katrina Crawford, sales and marketing director for Miller Homes Southern, said: “Support for the communities around our developments has always been really important to us, which is why initiatives like this are so special.”
