The end of August saw Chiltern Open Air Museum in Chalfont St Giles turn back the cogs of time to the Victorian era.
The Ragged Victorians are an award-winning authentic living history group that re-enacts the lower classes of Victorian England, showing what the era was like for most people at the time.
Shady characters patrolled the grounds, from a rat catcher to street urchins, and even rogues and vagabonds.
Guests had to keep an eye out for pickpockets as they gazed upon some of the unpleasant figures.
But visitors had no need to fear the law-breakers, as re-enactors from the Victorian British Army Rifle Brigade Regiment also patrolled the museum on behalf of the 3rd Battalion at home in England.
Attempting to grab some recruits from the local populace, the battalion also challenged some down-and-out characters reportedly hanging around the cottages and public houses.
Upcoming events at Chiltern Open Air Museum include the Harvest Festival and Halloween Spectacular. Find out more at www.coam.org.uk
