An Under 12s rugby team from Croxley were victorious at a regional tournament hosted at Twickenham last month.
The young Chess Valley RFC side came to the London district synonymous with rugby union and conquered their opposition in the Twickenham RFC Minis Festival on April 23.
The team had an impressive run to the tournament final, first beating one Ruislip side 2-1, then beating Wasps and Harrow in successive rounds, winning both games 5-1.
A semi-final against the hosts then beckoned, with Chess Valley emerging victorious with a convincing win of 4-1. They then faced the second Ruislip side, the only other unbeaten team in the tournament, in a sudden death final.
The Croxley side won the match 3-1 and were crowned tournament champions.
Speaking to CROXLEYnews, head coach Najeeb Said said: “Our victory in the Under 12 tournament at Twickenham was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players, coaches and parents. We played with passion and determination, and it paid off.
“But we need more players to join us next season to continue this success and build on what we have achieved. We welcome anyone who wants to be a part of our team next season.”
