Evergreen Football Club have enjoyed a “fantastic” season with continued success both on and off the pitch.
The club started the season as one of the first clubs in Hertfordshire to secure their 3 Star England Accreditation, which is the highest level a club can achieve in grassroots football.
From one achievement to another, Evergreen were then named Club of the Year by the Herts FA, beating competition from more than 300 clubs across the county.
On the pitch, the club have seen a significant growth in player participation across all age groups, boys’, girls’, men’s and women’s teams, and celebrated numerous league and cup wins. They are now working hard to set everything up for next season, and while the football has stopped, there is still much to do.
Breaking with tradition, the club will run a summer pre-season tournament at the end of August for boys and girls. They have continued to invest in infrastructure including the purchase of their own goalposts and new seven-a-side goals, and significant works on the goalmouths and pitches. This has all been at the club’s own cost with some support from the Football Foundation.
Evergreen chairman Mark Ward said: “We go into next season never in better shape. A huge thank you to everyone involved at Evergreen. I am very proud of all that has been achieved.”
