Abbots Langley Orchestra will channel Felix Mendelssohn in their next concert, to be held on Friday, June 27, at the Old Steiner School, Kings Langley.
The performance will include the 19th century German composer’s famous Violin Concerto, along with his Hebrides Overture, which he wrote after visiting Fingal’s Cave in Scotland. They will also play Dvořák’s 8th Symphony.
Speaking to ABBOTSnews, a spokesperson for the orchestra said: “We have been very fortunate to have our conductor Gonzalo Acosta ‘conduct from the violin’, so to speak, in several of our previous concerts.
“Having your conductor playing a solo at the same time is a different experience, because as players in the orchestra, you have to be very much in tune with what the soloist is doing. Instead of looking at the conductor beating time, you are just listening to the speed he is playing at, and you follow that.”
Tickets are available from www.shorturl.at/6tv5h and on the door. Under 18s can enter for free.
