A teacher has raised an astonishing £2,500 for Northwood-based charity Help Change Lives by running the London Marathon.
Liz Walton, a teacher at St Jérôme Church of England Bilingual Primary School, chose to raise funds to support the charity’s work to reduce poverty and inequality by helping vulnerable people around the world.
Speaking to Help Change Lives, Liz explained: “You’ve given me the biggest privilege to be able to run this for you and all the children and families you work for.”
Their projects involve the distribution of reusable sanitary pad kits; secondary school sponsorships; supporting many vulnerable families in Kenya with toilets, food and housing; school refurbishment; and helping street children, amongst others.
A spokesperson for Help Change Lives said: “Liz is a wonderful lady who took the marathon place with just two months to go, switching her mindset from a half marathon to a full one. She tackled her training well despite previous injuries, and finished strongly.”
