Croxley Guild Bowls Club (CGBC) kicked off the new season on Saturday, April 19, in their 99th anniversary year.
Members have continued with indoor shortmat bowls at the clubhouse on The Green over the winter, but were glad to step out into the sunshine for the first session of the 2025 season.
The club posted on Facebook: “Kicked off the season at Croxley Guild Bowls in style — dusted off our bowls and hit the green! Great to be back with the team, sunshine, and a few good ends. Here’s to a brilliant season ahead!”
CGBC also celebrated its 99th birthday on Tuesday, April 15. Founded in 1926, the club offers bowling for all ages and abilities, including men’s, ladies’, veterans’ and junior sections. They also offer the chance to compete in county and district competitions.
Over the winter, CGBC’s bowling green has been renovated and new windows have been installed.
Their post on Facebook reads: “Today marks an incredible milestone in our club’s journey — 99 years of bowling, friendship, and unforgettable memories.
“Over the decades, we’ve welcomed members young and old, shared countless sunny afternoons on The Green, celebrated championships, and supported one another through life’s ups and downs. It’s more than just a bowling club — it’s a family, a legacy, and a cornerstone of Croxley Green.
“As we proudly celebrate our 99th birthday today, we want to say thank you to every single person who has been part of this journey — past and present. Your passion, dedication, and love for the game have shaped who we are.
“The countdown to our 100th anniversary has officially begun!”
