Officers investigating a report of a hate crime in Watford have released an image of a person they would like to identify.

During the incident on Wednesday, January 29, a man aged in his 50s was sat in a stationary vehicle outside Tesco Express on Harwoods Road when he was reportedly approached by a woman who racially abused him.

Sergeant Karl Diggins, from Watford’s Community Safety Unit, said: “This incident has left the victim feeling understandably vulnerable and our Hate Crime Officer has contacted them to offer their support.

“We have made a number of enquiries since this incident was reported to us but we are now releasing this image to the public in the hope we can identify the person pictured, as we believe they may have been in the area at the time and could have vital information that could assist us.

“If you recognise this person, then please get in touch with us as soon as possible, quoting crime reference 41/9873/25.”
