Police have arrested two people in connection with their investigation into a serious assault in Watford.
An 18-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead and a 65-year-old woman from Watford have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. Both have been released on bail while enquiries continue.
The arrests are in relation to an assault which occurred on The Brow at around 12.50pm on Thursday, March 13.
It is alleged that the victim, a man aged in his 20s, was approached by several people who threatened him with a machete before the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. Thankfully, the victim was not physically harmed.
A short time later, officers recovered a vehicle and a machete in Clarke Green, Watford, both of which they seized as part of their ongoing investigation.
Detective Constable Jennifer Stoddart, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, said: “I hope the local community will feel reassured that we have made two arrests in relation to this investigation.
“Initially, we were treating this incident as being connected to a robbery on March 12 but now that our inquiry has progressed, we are no longer linking these offences.”
Officers are continuing their investigation into the robbery, which happened inside a chicken shop on The Brow at 8.10pm on Wednesday, March 12. It’s reported that several people entered the shop and threatened the victim, a man aged in his 20s, before stealing his jacket.
DC Stoddart added: “We are exploring CCTV enquiries but would be keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery – did you see anything unusual? If you think you can help, please get in touch quoting reference 41/23581/25.”
