Pedals at the ready, Field End Flyers Community Cycle Club will be back from its winter break on Saturday, February 28, and is welcoming new young riders to join the fun.
Meeting every Saturday morning at Field End School, the volunteer-run club is open to all primary school children, whether they’re just learning to ride or looking to sharpen their cycling skills.
Speaking to Pinnernews, club organiser Kirsty Lawrence shared: “We are a true community club, run by local people for local children. Our aim is to make cycling fun, accessible and confidence-building for every child who joins us.”
Founded in 2009 by a group of parents that were passionate about cycling, the club quickly grew from an after-school activity into a much-loved community group.
Field End Flyers is affiliated with British Cycling and all coaches are qualified. The club uses the excellent outdoor cycling track at the school and keeps fees to a minimum.
A fleet of donated bikes is also available, ensuring no child misses out.
Speaking to Pinnernews, club organiser Kirsty Lawrence shared: “We are always looking for new volunteers – whether that is helping on the track, maintaining bikes, or supporting behind the scenes. We also welcome young people completing their Duke of Edinburgh award.”
