Tributes have been pouring in for a horse that died after being hit by a bus.

The horse was spooked and managed to escape from its field in Abbots Langley and was sadly hit by a school bus full of Kings Langley School pupils on Thursday, January 17.

The horse, named Willow, was badly hurt and suffered serve damage to the back of its leg and had to be put down on the side of the road with its owner.

The traumatic event was witnessed by passers-by who noticeably saw an extremely shaken up driver but confirmed the children on the bus were fine.

This incident resulted in the closure of Bedmond road that left the areas surrounding Abbots Langley completely gridlocked.

An eye-witness who was stuck in traffic passing the bus said: “The windscreen was all shattered, if it wasn’t for the safety glass, the windscreen could have fallen on the driver in a million pieces.”

The community felt deeply affected by this tragic event and took to social media to voice their condolences for the owner and their family.
