TRAVEL WITH CONFIDENCE: New scheme for Three Rivers taxi drivers

Published on: 23rd January 2021   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Passengers can feel more confident taking a taxi or minicab in Three Rivers thanks to a new Travel with Confidence mark.

The mark is a sign that the car’s driver and operating company have had specialist training to help reduce the risk of infection spread to passengers.

Drivers who display the mark will be expected to demonstrate high levels of cleanliness, infection control and understanding of how to reduce risk to customers.

Compliance checks will be conducted every four months by Licensing Officers from Three Rivers District Council. This ensures that Travel with Confidence standards are maintained and passengers can be confident that the driver is taking steps to minimise the risk of infection.

Cllr Roger Seabourne, the council’s Lead Member for Community Safety and Chair of the Community Safety Partnership, said: “It is imperative that we ensure our passengers are safe whilst travelling in licensed vehicles, especially in these unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our licensing team work very closely with neighbouring authorities and Hertfordshire County Council and with the implementation of this scheme we hope to provide passengers the reassurance that any vehicle displaying the ‘Travel with Confidence’ sticker has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitised and the driver of the vehicle has undergone the required training to ensure the highest possible standard for cleanliness that can be achieved.”

Any passengers that have concerns that these standards have not been met should email licensing.team@theererivers.gov.uk or call 01923 776611.
