TRASHED: Commercial waste fly tipped in middle of Chalfont St Peter road

Published on: 10th March 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Chalfont St Peter resident was shocked to find a large amount of rubbish dumped in the middle of a road on the outskirts of the village.

Ruchi Sachin Kumar was out walking along Shire Lane between Chalfont St Peter and Chorleywood, when she came across the pile of commercial waste.

Posting a picture of the fly tip on Facebook, she stated: “It’s so sad that people, instead of driving to the allocated waste disposal sites, decided to throw the trash, which has blocked the road for any vehicles to pass through.”

Councillor Gareth Williams, Buckinghamshire Council’s cabinet member for climate change and environment, said: “We’re aware of the issues on Shire Lane and recognise it as a hotspot for fly tipping incidents.

“A man was arrested on March 3 in connection with this incident and investigations are ongoing. Buckinghamshire Council is very grateful for the support from Thames Valley Police, and we hope this case will lead to one or more convictions.

“We want to thank residents for their patience as we clear the area.”
