A series of gardens at a hospital in Amersham were officially opened last month.
A trio of Chilterns-based garden designers contributed to the renovation of a different area within Amersham Hospital.
Sam Proctor designed a lush courtyard space for the Dermatology Ward that aims to create an immersive natural experience. Staff are invited to take a moment to step out of work mode into somewhere completely different, a world where large leaves mix with textural forms and bright pops of colour to create a sense of escapism.
A space at Chartridge Ward was created by Jen Donnelly to be used by both patients and staff. Jen added a sense of fun by adding a putting game, as well as bringing light, colour and texture to the courtyard through planting.
The third space was orchestrated by Catherine Gibbon, who introduced a refreshed planting scheme to the Ophthalmology Secret Garden with focus on colour, resilience, and evergreens for year-round structure.
A member of staff said: “It brings us happiness; we just open the door and look at the garden and we are so happy.”
