An inquest into the death of a two-year-old who is thought to have choked to death at a nursery in Radlett is set to take place within six months.
Sadie Salt, 2, tragically died on November 14, 2020, after choking to death on a sausage at Mini Learners Nursery on Watling Street.
At a pre-inquest review at County Hall in Hertford on January 18, 2022 it was said that evidence would be given by the Department for Education, Ofsted, witnesses, police and doctors. The coroner said the fullest picture will be needed of what happened on the day of the choking incident at Mini Learners Nursery. Consideration will be given to the extent to which appropriate training and supervision were in place, and how staff were organised.
Following the hearing, Zoe and Adam Salt said: “We are grateful to the coroner for his thorough consideration of the events and circumstances surrounding Sadie’s death. We are very relieved that the inquest will consider why the nursery did not appear to know about guidance over food preparation and choking hazards. Also, we are relieved that issues around training and first-aid and exactly what happened on that day will be explained fully.”
