Tributes have been paid to a Pinner resident heralded “a force for good” who has sadly passed away.

Cynthia Wells BEM (pictured left), who was awarded for her services to the community in Pinner in this year’s Queens New Year Honours List, has died.

She was honoured for her services to the community of which there were many ranging from her pivotal role in forming the West House and Heath Robinson Trust to her role as chair of The Pinner Association.

A spokesperson for the Pinner Association paid tribute to Cynthia.

They said: “It is with great regret that we must inform you that Cynthia Wells, our Hon. Editor of  The Villager magazine, and a past Chairman and Hon. Secretary of The Pinner Association, has died.

“Her husband has asked us to thank all those who sent Cynthia cards and messages congratulating her on the award of the BEM in the New Year’s Honours. This recognition of the love and respect in which she was held by so many in Pinner had helped them through her final days.”

Recognised previously in 2016 in the Harrow Heroes Awards, Cynthia had taken on my roles in the village including Honorary Editor of The Villager magazine since 1997 and until recently was chair of the West House and Heath Robinson Trust.

Speaking on behalf of the Friends of Heath Robinson Museum, Ruth McNeil described Cynthia as a “force for good” who helped to transform Pinner.

She said: “Everyone who has anything to do with the museum feel delighted on her behalf. It is hugely well deserved for all the hard work, passion and time spent on restoring West House and helping make the museum what it is today.

“She was instrumental to the fundraising for the museum, and we all feel very proud she has been recognised.”
