An inspirational Gerrards Cross teacher won the Student Voice Primary Teacher of the Year Award at the annual Buckinghamshire School Awards.
The awards ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, June 26, celebrated school staff, governors and leaders from across Buckinghamshire.
There were 12 categories in this year’s awards with individual school staff, governors and teams nominated by their colleagues. More than 120 nominations were received across all categories. Those nominated were assessed by judges before the winners and runners-up were announced on the night.
Mrs Sarah Moore has taught science at The Gerrards Cross C.E. School for more than 20 years. Every two years, she organises a week celebrating science, technology, engineering and maths. The theme this year was ‘Animals’, and Mrs Moore arranged for all 420 pupils to visit London Zoo.
Back in March, the school wrote to Sir David Attenborough to tell him about Sarah’s inspirational work. Amazingly, the much-loved broadcaster sent a handwritten note to Mrs Moore praising her “great success in explaining to your pupils the great importance of the natural world”.
