Eight talented young footballers from a Croxley school have been selected to represent England at the world’s largest youth football tournament.
The selected students from York House School will travel to Gothenburg, Sweden, in July to take part in the Gothia Cup.
The young footballers earned their position by competing against regional teams from across Southern England.
Teams from more than 80 nations will take part in the Gothia Cup, with the finals set to be watched by 30,000-plus people across the world.
The players can expect to receive top-quality coaching, and will be able to attend workshops on nutrition, sports psychology and injury prevention.
Several students from the school also competed at the event last year.
Lauren Kelly, head of girls’ games at York House, said: “We are extremely proud of our pupils, who have all shown the commitment and determination to compete amongst a huge talent pool.
“We truly believe that this exposure to the technical and physical side of the game has pushed our pupils to the next level.”
