A lacrosse team from Berkhamsted School have stormed to the top after they crowned National Champions.

Last month several teams from the school in the town competed at the Lacrosse National Schools championship, with the Under 15As crowned best in the country.

This was after a nail biting final against Putney, with Berkhamsted staying calm and composed to secure a 6-3 win over the London side.

Anna, captain of the team, praised the team for performing extremely well under the pressure of the national competition.

She said: “We managed to complete the whole day unbeaten all thanks to the energy and enthusiasm from the parents, coaches, and team members. The final was an exhilarating and equally pressurising match, however we managed to stay calm and came out National Champions 2022.”

Molly, midfielder on the team, said it was great to see the team’s hard work throughout the year pay off, marking a day she will remember for a long time.

She said: “As soon as we got to the pitches everyone was buzzing with excitement, and as the day went on this excitement just grew and grew. And to hype us up before each game we played our team song, scream and shout, and we definitely did scream and shout it, it got us all in the zone before we went out and fought our hardest in each and every match.”

Coach, Charlie-Mae steed, added: “They showed maturity, focus and drive to succeed in every game. The most important component of the day, however, was the team feeling that the girls created by singing every song as loud as they could and enjoying every moment spent with their friends. It was the passion and enjoyment for playing Lacrosse with their friends that proved they deserved to be crowed National Schools Lacrosse Champions.”
