Abbots Langley Club FC was celebrating this month after taking the top spot in the Chairman’s Cup.

The village-based club, formerly AFC Leavesden, has been playing together since the club’s inception five years ago.

On April 10 the team put on a good show and beat local rivals Cassiobury Rangers to take home the victory in the Chairman’s Cup.

Speaking to AbbotsNews, manager Will Coombs, said the team is also having a great season and are due to finish near the top of the league.

He said: “We’ve had a really good season this year, close to coming third in the league.

“I think COVID was a bit of a worry, for the last two seasons they have cancelled the leagues and at the beginning of the season, we were worried if people would carry on especially with the COVID doubts.

“Luckily we managed to have a really good season and win the cup which was great, especially against Cassiobury because there’s been a bit of rivalry between us the past couple of seasons.”

Will also wanted to pay a special thank you to their sponsors the Abbots Langley Social Club who have supported them for the past two years.

You can find the club on Twitter and Instagram by searching ‘abbotslangleyclubfc’.
