Some schools in Watford have started insisting on parents wearing face masks when on school grounds to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
As a result, councillor Dawn Allen-Williamson has donated a selection of children’s, adult’s and disposable masks to The Orchard Primary School and Beechfield School in North Watford.
Dawn Allen-Williamson, Liberal Democrat councillor, said: “There are lots of parents on furlough and I know how difficult some of them are finding it at the moment to provide the essentials.
“I chose to donate some masks to local schools in order to support the schools’ effort to keep the children, parents and teachers as safe as possible.”
Paul Sutton, executive head of The Orchard Primary School, said: “It was fantastic to receive the gift of face masks from Dawn, especially as we are now asking all parents to wear a face covering when arriving and departing school to strive to help protect the whole school community.”
Gillian Jackson, headteacher of Beechfield School, added: “We enjoyed Dawn’s visit to Beechfield School today. It was very kind of her to donate us some masks. It’s great working together to help to look after our community.”
