The Northwood Area Women’s Club (NAWC) have raised more than £3000 in 12 months by auctioning and selling possessions such as handbags, books and hosting cake sales in a great effort for special needs employment charity Mission EmployAble.
Mission EmployAble welcomes applications for the highly regarded internship programme from young adults in the area who have learning difficulties.
The NAWC is a club which strives to promote friendship, develop mutual interests and help their local community. This ethos eventually led them to win the Charity of the Year Award in May 2021. Since their success the club has thought of many fun ways to raise even more money, such as a monthly raffle, a Christmas market, and numerous auctions.
This ultimately led to Pam Greening and Lynnette Morrow of NAWC presenting Mission EmployAble founder and chair Katharine Weston with a cheque for £3,046.
Katharine added: “NAWC members deserve their reputation for their commitment to helping a variety of good causes through their social events and fund-raising activities and we were delighted to be in partnership with them over the past year.
“We are thrilled with the sum they have raised and look forward to welcoming NAWC members to our café on Chorleywood Common when it opens this autumn.”
